I grew up in Vermillion and graduated from Vermillion High School- being an active member of band, jazz band (playing euphonium and a little trombone), choir and show choir. I was a late bloomer in piano but started taking private voice lessons early in high school. I continued to be active and band and choir throughout college, graduating from USD with a double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance- studying voice with Frank Aiello and choral conducting with Larry Torkelson. I met my husband, Anthony, when I needed a piano accompanist for a vocal competition. My husband and I have been of the music team for the United Church of Christ, leading the children's choirs and adult choirs. I currently serve on the board of the Sioux Valley Chapter for the American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA), organizing music workshops for music teachers in the region. I am also a member of the American Choral Director's Association and Music Educators National Conference.
We have a 7th grader, Abby, a 4rd grader, Ben, a 1st grader, Sarah, and a black lab named Molly. In our free time we enjoy camping, supporting Vermillion performers and athletes, watching Nebraska football and filling our summers on stage for the Vermillion Community Theatre musicals.
