VMS PE teacher Lori Jerred wins SD Special Olympics Outstanding Coach Award

Lori Jerred, VMS Physical Education teacher and Special Olympics coach, has been chosen for the Outstanding Coach Award (Ron Stewart Award) by the South Dakota Special Olympics committee after receiving multiple nominations.  According to the Special Olympics South Dakota website (sosd.org), the Oustanding Coach Award is presented to a Special Olympics Coach who "demonstrates the highest degree of technical skill and personal commitment needed to motivate and train Special Olympics athletes."  Lori has been coaching Special Olympics students for the Vermillion School District for 20 years.
Lori will be attending the South Dakota High School Coaches Association Award Dinner in Mitchell on July 11th and the Special Olympics South Dakota's Annual Banquet and Awards Presentation on November 4th to accept her award.   This is a huge honor and very well deserved.  Congratulations, Lori!
